Abstract

In CuC nanocrystal or quantum dot (QD), the translational motion of the exciton is confined three-dimensionally and it is classified into the typical `exciton confinement' regime. The emission spectra of CuC quantum dots in NaCl matrices under resonant one- and two-photon excitation were investigated. Several fine structures in the emission spectra around the exciton band were observed. By plotting the Stokes shifts of the fine structures against the one- and two-photon excitation energy, two types of the structures were found. First, whose Stoke shift was independent of the excitation energy and the other type increases its Stoke shift with increasing excitation energy.
