Abstract

Neutral cluster distribution of iron oxides in the gas phase was determined through 118 nm single photon ionization. It was found that clusters had gaussian widths as small as σ∼ 4 ns for 118nm ionization. It was observed that Fe mO m form of neutral clusters were the most stable for clusters with less than 10 iron atoms. It was also found that laser spot size was the main reason behind the occurence of linewidths in the laser pulsewidth, ionization region and fragmentation of neutral clusters.
