Abstract

A prototype of an optical carrier supply module (OCSM) based on the novel sideband generation technique was presented. This technique provided scalability for the number of wavelengths. The OCSM prototype generated a 12.5-GHz-spaced 256-channel wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) carrier applicable for over 100 super-dense (SD)-WDM systems. Results showed the scalability to over 1000 channels covered by 100-nm gain band fibre amplifiers.
