Abstract
One-polarizer-type reflective LCDs have been developed for reflective color LCDs with high resolution and high luminance. However, in order to apply them to high-quality monitor displays, their contrast ratio is not sufficiently high in terms of wavelength and viewing angle. In this paper, we discuss the design rule for liquid-crystal layer and retardation films for one-polarizer-type reflective LCDs in order to achieve high quality, especially high contrast ratio, for monitor displays.
