Abstract
Selective recording on multiple structures may be possible with microwave-assisted magnetic recording. The number of parameters in even a dual-structure system is such that optimization is difficult. In this paper, the response surface methodology is used to systematically optimize a dual-structure system. Optimized structures are presented for three different recording configurations, allowing random writes to either structure or writing in a predetermined order. The addition of a second structure could allow areal densities of over 3 Tbit/in2 to be achieved.
