Abstract

Organic photovoltaics based on 5-hexylthiophene-fused porphyrazines as the donor material were investigated. Bilayer solar cells consisting of a solution deposited donor layer and a vapor deposited C60 acceptor layer showed decent photovoltaic performances of up to PCE of 1.2%, which is comparable to the corresponding CuPc/C60 bilayer solar cells. On the other hand, bulk-heterojunction solar cells with PC61BM gave much reduced photovoltaic performances with maximum PCE of 0.70%, which can be ascribed to poor film morphology.
