Abstract

A mixture of the four stereoisomers of 2.6-dimethyloctyl formate was synthesized, and found to be a potent mimic of (4R,8R)-4,8-dimethyldecanal, the aggregation pheromone of the flour beetles, Tribolium castaneum and Tribolium confusum.
