Photonic bandgap tuning with thermo-optic effect

Abstract

Tuning of photonic bandgap was demonstrated with thermo-optic effect. A 2.7-nm wavelength-shift was obtained at 48 mW heating power. Optic switching by shifting photonic bandgap was realized with an extinction ratio of 13 dB.
