Abstract

Our recent work on X-ray diffraction and magnetic properties of equiatomic ternary compounds RTSb (R = rare earths, T = Pt, Au) is presented. RPtSb (R = Gd-Yb) crystallizes in a MgAgAs-type crystal structure. The electrical resistivity and Hall constant of GdPtSb suggests that R3+ PtSb with MgAgAs-type structure is a semi-metal. EuAuSb and a new compound YbAuSb crystallize in a CaIn2-type structure where the Eu and Yb ions are in a 2+ state and YbAuSb shows a Pauli paramagnetism.
