Abstract

Polysilane with a 'sulfide tripod' terminus was synthesized and the selective chemisorption of the polysilanes on a gold surface was demonstrated. Ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy were used for the analysis. A combination of this technique with submicrometer-scale gold electrodes contributes to the understanding of electronic properties at the single polymer level.
