N2 - Water-soluble copolymer of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) and n-butyl methacrylate (BMA) (PMB30W) was synthesized giving attention to the balance of hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity in the copolymer. The characteristics of biodegradable poly(L-lactic acid) (PLA) nanoparticle coated with the PMB30W were studied. The PLA/PMB30W nanoparticles effectively restrained the interaction with the biocomponents. The copolymer improved the blood compatibility of the PLA nanoparticles as a drug carrier. These nanoparticles have strong potential to obtain a long-term circulation in the blood stream.
