N2 - The removal of CO in H2-rich gas is indispensable to the polymer electrolyte fuel cell. The promoting effect of potassium on supported Rh metal catalysts was found in the selective CO oxidation with O2 under H2-rich stream. Rh/SiO2 and Rh/USY exhibited low level of CO removal, however, K-Rh/SiO2 and K-Rh/USY had excellent performance in the reaction. From the results of characterization, it is suggested that the role of potassium is different on SiO2 and USY. In the case of Rh/SiO2, potassium addition enhanced the Rh dispersion, and it enhanced the TOF in the case of Rh/USY.
