Abstract

We performed the positron annihilation age-momentum correlation measurement to investigate the Ps slowing down process in Ar gas. We determined kinetic energies of para-positronium (p-Ps) as a function of time. The initial kinetic energy of Ps was 3.7 eV which was somewhat higher than that predicted by the conventional Ps formation model. Momentum transfer cross sections were also determined below the Ps kinetic energy of 3.7 eV, and agreed well with other experimental values near thermal energy.
