Psychophysiological assessment of user's cumbersome feeling on consumer devices

Abstract

An objective method for evaluating user's cumbersome feeling to the interface of consumer electronic devices was developed using the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV). HRV responses to 4 different types of remote controller of a home appliance were evaluated in 14 healthy subjects. We found that heart rate and low-frequency component of HRV correlated negatively with cumbersome feeling to operation.
