Abstract
Single phase, c-axis oriented thin films of Y-type magnetoplumbite (Ba2Co2Fe12O22; Co2Y) with a very large c-axis length as 43.5 Å were grown successfully by pulsed laser deposition technique. The key points were high temperature deposition and the use of CoO buffer layer inserted between the film and MgAl2O4(111) substrate. From the transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis, the CoO buffer layer was consumed to make an atomically sharp interface of Co2Y and substrate. Superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer was used to verify the high magnetic properties of the epitaxial thin films.
