Quark Mass, Cabibbo Angle and CKM Mixing Matrix

Abstract

In the standard model of the elementary particle physics, there are 3 charge - (1 / 3 ) e quarks; (d, s, b) and 3 charge + (2 / 3 ) e quarks; (u, c, t). We collectively call the (u, c, t) quarks as “Up-type quark” and the (d, s, b) quarks as “Down-type quark” in this chapter. We start the discussion using the four lighter quarks; (d, s) and (u, c) and introduce the Cabibbo angle θC. Then we will extend the discussion to six-quark system to introduce CKM (Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa) mixing later.
