Abstract
An interview with Keiichi Torimitsu, the Group Leader of the Molecular and Bio-Science Research Group, on the research conducted on neural transmission mechanisms at NTT Basic Research Laboratories is presented. The mission of NTT is to create latest materials and devices in combination with nanotechnology, which is a specialty of NTT, and to use these devices to promote technical innovation in the information-sharing society. Several projects conducted at the Group are concerned with interaction between nerve tissue and substances. NTT excels in fine-processing technologies for the development of LSIs and other advanced devices.
