Abstract

The purpose of this research was to construct a NOAA satellite based operational real time fire monitoring system for forest fire management in Russia and Northeast Asian region. Using the data from AVHRR radiometer of NOAA-16, a real time fire detection method is developed to identify actively burning forest fire and applied to provide daily satellite based fire monitoring for Russia and Northeast Asian region. Previously we have reported about the construction of this system which was in preliminary stage [1], Here further developments of this system have been done successfully which detects the fire points more accurately and calculates the more precise burned area.
