Abstract

Coulomb excitation of the proton-rich nuclei 20Mg, 28S and 36Ca was studied using radioactive 20Mg, 28S and 36Ca beams at 58, 53 and 58 MeV/u impinging on lead targets. The reduced transition probabilities B(E2;0 gs+→21+) of 20Mg, 28S, and 36Ca were measured. The ratios of the neutron multipole matrix element to the proton one Mn/Mp were extracted from the measured B(E2) values combining with the ones of their mirror transitions, and compared with shell model calculations.
