Abstract
The electrical conductivities and optical properties of four different types of dodecithiophenes have been examined. Among them, the unhindered dodecithiophene like polythiophene is highly conducive under doping, whereas the hindered one is insulating. However, the remaining two partially hindered dodecithiophenes are as highly conductive as the unhindered one. It is suggested that not only π-dimer but also bipolaron can be involved as active charge carrier species in conductive oligo(poly)thiophenes.
