Research and development program for medicine at NTT laboratories. - Information technology for support of enjoyment excellent medical services

Information technology has been developed rapidly. The technology affects in many fields such as economics, manufacturing, marketing systems, and administrative services. Information technology will play an important roll in medical field. The technology will change medical systems and methods drastically. In this article the technology is categorized in four from the point of view of its users. Some typical systems, based on up-to-date information technology, developed by NTT laboratories are shown. Finally, the author thinks the medical information technology in corporation with micro/nanomachine and MEMS (Micro Electro-mechanical Systems) devices such as micro sensors, micro actuators, DNA chips, and micro alleys will support a comfortable healthy life for each individual in near future.
