Abstract

This paper describes the behavior of the antagonistic muscle pair during simultaneous electrical stimulation. Forces were measured under the isometric condition using the ramp-shaped stimulation with the antagonistic stimulation and differential forces with respect to time were evaluated. Based on that evaluation, it was considered that the nonlinear response of the neuromuscular system was improved by simultaneous stimulation. This means that the simultaneous stimulation method is useful for controlling paralyzed muscles by Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES).
