title = "Seabed environment damage of matsushima bay (Miyagi Prefecture, Japan) after the 2011 tohoku earthquake and tsunami",
abstract = "A survey was conducted to identify the actual changes of the seabed environment of Matsushima Bay after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami using compact side-scan sonar. Three different seabed topographies were surveyed: a submerged breakwater, an eelgrass bed around oyster farms, and the Sabusawa Suido channel in the Urato Islands. The results indicated that soil was deposited only upstream of the breakwater and that the longitudinal stone masonry of the submerged breakwater meandered. The eelgrass was completely washed away from its bed. Additionally, there existed a spindle-shaped trench in the Sabusawa Suido channel.",
