Abstract
In many organizations, separate groups are responsible for dealing with security and quality of service (QoS). Hence, services requiring assured delivery could end up reserving excessive resources and potentially denying service to other applications that are security (but not QoS) critical. This could be a big problem in cyber-physical systems (CPSs), which are becoming more dominant and have recently gained much attention. Therefore, QoS and security requirements must be considered together rather than in isolation. In this vein, a simple yet effective network policy framework has been designed that is able to identify the conflicting goals of security and QoS requirements that are perceived by the users. Our framework offers security-integrated QoS for resolving QoS–security (QoSec) conflicts in a balanced fashion.
