N2 - For automatic control of an implantable DC-motor driven centrifugal pump used as a ventricular assist device (VAD), a new method is proposed for estimating the pressure head and flow of the pump by using voltage, current and rotational speed without any additional sensors. The uniqueness of the method is that flow can be estimated by approximating the slope and the bias of the regression line of the relationship between pressure (or flow) and the input power.
