Abstract

This paper describes a novel signal processing method for extracting scratching time. Scratching motion is often monitored in various ways to evaluate an itching which appears as a symptom of various diseases. It is known that the altitude of skin diseases accompanied by itching is related to the length of the scratching time. Various studies have been developed to measure the scratching motion. And we have proposed the bed sensing system which is able to monitor heartbeat, respiration and body movement involved scratching motion while a patient is sleeping on the bed. In this paper, our proposed processing method, capable of extracting the scratching time, is applied to many kinds of measurement devices.
