Abstract

We grew single crystals of NpO2, NpCoGa5, NpPtGa 5 and NpGe3, and measured the magnetic susceptibilities at temperatures up to 600 K. The magnetic susceptibility in NpO2 is almost isotropic against the field direction and follows the Curie-Weiss law corresponding to the 5f3 configuration. The Curie-Weiss law was observed also in NpCoGa5 and NpPtGa5 at high temperatures, suggesting the localized nature of 5f-electrons. The suceptibility in NpGe 3 shows a broad maximum at around Tχmax = 50 K, indicating the localized to itinerant crossover occurs at Tχmax.
