Abstract

We succeeded in growing single crystals of β-Mn as well as α-Mn by the Bi-flux method. β-Mn, which is well known as a spin liquid compound, exhibits non-Fermi liquid relations of the low-temperature resistivity ρ and the specific heat C in the form of C=T, roughly following ρ = ρ0 + ATn (n ≃ 5=3) and C=T ⊥ -ln T, respectively, which are compared with antiferromagnetic properties in α-Mn.
