Abstract

Switching fields and magnetic domain structures for micron to submicron synthetic antiferromagnet (SyAF) arrays were investigated. The SyAF demonstrated a single domain structure for all the elements with different aspect ratios, as observed by magnetic force microscopy (MFM). The remanent magnetization for the SyAF was almost the same as saturation magnetization, and the higher remanent magnetization was attributed to the single domain structure.
