Abstract

The structure and size control of magnetic nanoparticles were discussed by using a modified polyol process. In case of Ni, the structure from fcc to a mixture of fcc and hcp was realized, and particle size varied from a few micron to few tens nanometer. It was found that the Co particle structure has been changed from a mixture of fcc and hcp at micron size range to the fcc dominant mixture of fcc and hcp in the submicron size range. The results show that the size and structure of the nanoparticles have controlled by manipulating the rate determining steps.
