Abstract
A 20 Gbit/s - 2,000 km soliton transmission field experiment was successfully under taken using a new soliton transmission technique called dispersion allocated soliton transmission, which allows fluctuation in the GVD of the fiber. This paper describes key technologies in achieving the experiment.
