Abstract

This work presents a study on the chemical and electrochemical properties of rare earth chloride (MCl3, M = La, Ce) in the molten chloride mixture NaCl-2CsCl (mole ratio) at a temperature of 873K. The identification of the M-O (M = La, Ce) compounds that are stable in the electrolyte as well as the determination of their solubility products was carried out by Potentiometrie titration using an oxide ion sensor. The E-pO2- (potentialoxide ion) diagram for M-O compound stable has been constructed by combining both theoretical and experimental data.
