Abstract

Some properties such as sinterability, microstructure, mechanical properties, oxidation resistance, etc. were studied on Ti(C,N)-Mo2C, Ti(C,N)-WC and TiC-Mo2C compacts in relation to sintering temperature (1773-2073K) and atmosphere (vacuum or nitrogen). Carbonitride powders of TiC0.7N0.3 and TiC0.5 N0.5 were used as starting ones. It was suggested that TiCo.5N0.5-(10-15)%Mo2C compact shows the most excellent properties, when it is sintered in N2 of 20kPa at about 1973K. The results were in detail discussed.
