Abstract

This paper reports a speckle reduction device for a laser-type projector, in which an oscillating optical diffuser is driven by a 2-axis resonant microstage. 2-axis motion was achieved by a single PIT thin film actuator, to which drive signals at the resonant frequencies of both axes are superimposed. The maximum displacement as high as 50 pm could be observed, and thus the speckle contrast as low as 0.14 was achieved.
