Abstract

Spectral linewidth broadening in Er-doped-fibre amplifiers is measured by utilising a delayed self-heterodyne interferometer with 1-4 kHz resolution in the 155Onm range. Though the noise floor is broadened, no broadening is observed at the 3dB down point.
