Abstract

The energy consumption of a standard 3.5 inch Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is on the order of 10 Watts, a laptop runs on approximately 50 Watts. This doesn't sound very much but considering the huge number of HDD's and laptops around it is certainly advisable to look among other things for energy saving possibilities.
