Abstract

Measurements of stress effect on the critical current of multifilamentary Nb//3Sn superconductors are performed using an apparatus for stress effect measurement which can simultaneously apply magnetic field, tensile strain and electric current to samples. First, the apparatus equipped with a 9T split type superconducting magnet and a tensile testing machine is outlined and then the excitations of the magnet is reported. Finally, some results of stress effect on critical current of bronze processed multifilamentary Nb//3Sn superconductors and in situ Nb//3Sn superconductors are discussed.
