Abstract

In this article, the local stability of a direct-acting poppet valve circuit with a long pipeline has been studied as the first step of the investigation of nonlinear behavior of a system. The system consists of a poppet valve, a long pipeline and a tank with constant pressure. We have investigated the local stability of the system and explained it by a local stability map and the variation of real and imaginary, parts of eigenvalues with supply pressure as the control parameter by two methods. The first method is based on the linearized equation of discretized governing equations and the other, is directly based on the Laplace transform of the linearized equations. Good agreement between these results by two methods was obtained under the given conditions.
