Abstract

For state-space digital filters using floating-point arithmetic, the roundoff error and the coefficient quantization error are analyzed in the time domain. The problem to synthesize a digital filter with minimum coefficient sensitivity and minimum roundoff error is formulated. The synthesis method for digital filters with minimum coefficient sensitivity is proposed, and the algorithm for finding the optimum order of additions is derived. The results of analysis are in agreement with the results of simulation.
