The structure of molten CaO Fe2O3, with CaO content from 33 to 60mol% was studied by means of high temperature x-ray diffraction. At higher CaO concentrations the iron atoms were found to become more and more tetrahedrally by rather than octahedrally surrounded by oxygens. The present structural information is consistent with the reported results on the viscosity of this system.
