Abstract

It is very important to understand and estimate the AC loss characteristic of assembled conductors with ferromagnetic substrate. In this paper, the AC loss of cylindrically assembled HTS coated-conductors with ferromagnetic substrate is examined using FEM taking account of the nonlinear E-J characteristics. It is shown that, the current distribution and AC losses depend on the arrangement of the superconducting (SC) layer and the substrate. Moreover, AC loss characteristics depend on the gap length between conductors. The effect of the arrangement of the SC layer and the substrate on the current distribution of SC layer and AC loss is illustrated.
