Abstract

Efficient sum-frequency generation in a polarization-preserving fiber has been successfully attained by using a 1.064μm Q-switched and mode-locked Nd: YAG laser. The visible wavelengths due to the sum-frequency mixing are 536 nm and 564 nm, where the conversion efficiency from the pump to those visible lines reached 0.5-1% with a mode-locked peak pump power of 20 kW.
