Abstract

A new detection method for gene expression by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was developed using a proteinlabeling system based on a noncatalytic mutant β-lactamase (BL-tag system). By combining the BL-tag system with a specific biotinylation probe and a streptavidin-conjugated superparamagnetic iron oxide, target gene expression in living cells was successful detected by 1HMRI.
