N2 - Micro-organisms play a vital role in many biological and medical phenomena; such as bioreactors for medicine or food, human digestion assisted by enterobacteria, and plankton blooms in the oceans that affect the oceanic ecosystem. In this article, we will outline briefly some of the fluid mechanics aspect on individual and collective behavior of micro-organisms. Firstly, some of our researches on hydrodynamic interaction of pairs of micro-organisms will be reviewed. Secondly, the collective motions of micro-organisms and suspension properties, such as rheological property and diffusion property, will be discussed.
