Abstract

Photophysical and photovoltaic properties of dye-sensitized solar cells using AK-01 with indoline as donor, Ba01~03 with fused dithienothiophene as π-spacer, YS-01~04 with dibenzosilole as π-spacer, and K-dyes or JH-dyes with thieno[2,3-a]carbazole or thieno[3,2-a]carbazole as donor have been investigated. Practical and large scale synthetic methods for functional fullerenes, which are potentially useful acceptors in bulk heterojunction solar cells, have been developed, and devices employing some of them exhibit significantly high photovoltaic performances.
