Abstract

β-Fe1-x-yFexMYSi2(M=Cr,Co) solid solution is synthesized by solid state reaction at 1100°C for 48h and subsequent annealing at 850°C for 168h in an evacuated silica tube. Single phase is obtained in 0≤x+y≤0.1 and β-phase is stable up to 1050°C at x=0.1 (Y=0). From the results of thermoelectric properties of high pressure sintered materials, the anisotropy of thermoelectric power is found. The value of thermoelectric power through the perpendicular direction for applied pressure is about 3 times as large as that of through the normal direction. The power factors of high pressure sintered materials are higher than those of pressureless sintered samples.
