Abstract

Single phase of lithium manganese spinel was synthesized at low temperature by the hydrothermal method. From the result of SEM observation, the particle shape of this specimen was stick type. The chemical formula of this specimen was determined to be Li1.14[Mn3+0.72Mn4+ 1.14]O3.93 by ICP analysis and redox titration. The results of differential scanning calorimetry and low-temperature X-ray diffraction showed that the structural phase transition due to the Jahn-Teller distortion was suppressed in this specimen.
