Abstract

In order to establish the condition of YSr2Cu3Oy (YSCO)-phase formation under ambient pressure, samples with various starting compositions were prepared in flowing oxygen atmosphere. When the mixed precursor materials were reacted in an alumina crucible, the superconducting YSCO-phase (Tc=75 K) was found to form. On the other hand, samples heated on a Pt mesh did not contain the YSCO-phase. These results suggest that inclusion of a trace amount of Al ion as a stabilizing dopant significantly promotes the YSCO-phase formation.
