Abstract

We have studied Ξ-N interaction through the quasifree Ξ- production in the (Κ-, Κ+) reaction on 9Be target at PΚ- = 1.8 GeV/c. We have deduced the Ξ-N elastic scattering cross section to be 30.7±6.7(stat)+3.7-3.6(syst) mb for an average Ξ momentum of < PΞ >= 550 MeV/c. The ratio of Ξ-p to Ξ-n scattering cross sections was also deduced to be 1.1+1.4-0.7(stat)+0.7-0.4(syst).
