Thermoelectric properties of Fe-doped Ca 3Co 2O 6 single crystals with a pseudo-one-dimensional structure

Abstract

Columnar single crystals of Fe-doped Ca 3Co 2O 6 with a pseudo-one-dimensional structure were synthesized by a flux method using K 2CO 3. Seebeck coefficient (S) and electrical resistivity (ρ) of an Fe-doped Ca 3Co 2O 6 single crystal along the elongated direction were measured in the temperature range from room temperature to over 1000 K in air. The single crystal showed p-type semiconducting behaviour and the Fe doping augmented the S, ρ, and the power factor (S 2ρ -1).
